Delap is from a family of footballers. His father Rory Delap represented the Republic of Ireland national team and was renowned for his long throw-ins during his time at Stoke City whilst his brother Finn Delap is a Burton Albion.

Liam Delap Club Career
Delap bursted into the scenes at Manchester City, prior to joining City’s youth team in 2019 he spent 10 years at Derby County’s Academy — a club he joined when he was 6.
His first team debut came in an EFL match against AFC Bournemouth, he scored a goal in that match. His Premier League debut did not go as he would have wanted as City suffered a 5-2 defeat against Leicester City. In April 2021 Pep Guardiola confirmed that Delap will join the first team.
During the 2021/2022 pre-season Delap suffered a foot injury which stalled his chances in the first team as the pre-season would have been a great opportunity to prove himself to Pep Guardiola. Despite interests from Championship sides to join on loan, he signed a 3-year deal with Manchester City.
On 18 August 2022 Liam Delap joined Stoke City on a loan deal for the 2022/2023 season, his performance at Stoke was few and far between as he netted 3 goals in 23 appearances. He was recalled by City in January 2023 and sent to Preston North End Football Club for the rest of the season.

In July 2023 he joined Hull City on a season-long loan for the 2023/2024 season, he scored a goal in his debut in a 2-1 loss to Norwich City.
In July 2024, he left City and joined newly promoted Ipswich Town for £20 million on a five-year deal. He is enjoying life at Ipswich Town as he has scored 6 goals so far in the 2024/2025 Premier League.
International Career
