Callum James Hudson-Odoi  was raised in Greater London, in a family with a rich footballing heritage. His father, Bismark Odoi, is a former Ghanaian midfielder who played for Accra Hearts of Oak, one of Ghana’s premier football clubs. This familial connection to professional football significantly influenced Callum’s early interest and development in the sport.

Callum is the second of three sons. His older brother, Bradley Hudson-Odoi, born 12 years earlier, is a non-league football striker who has played for various clubs in England. The youngest brother’s name remains undisclosed, and he maintains a private life away from the public eye. Growing up in such an environment, Callum was naturally inclined towards football, often playing with his brothers and receiving guidance from his father.

For his education, Callum Hudson-Odoi attended Whitgift School in Croydon, an independent institution renowned for its strong emphasis on sports, particularly football. Hudson-Odoi made his senior debut for Chelsea on January 28, 2018, and it didn’t take long for him to make an impact. Following an impressive performance in the 2018/2019 season under Maurizio Sarri, he announced his decision of Hudson-Odoi staying with the Chelsea first-team squad and was handed the number 20 Jersey. During the January Transfer window, Hudson-Odoi soon became the interest of major club like Bayern Munich. Chelsea again in summer of 2019 rejected their  £22.5 million bid, compared to the £35 million offer in January, making him stay yet another season.

On August 30 2022, he joined Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan unrelenting in his performance. His first goal came on 26 October in a 2 – 2 draw away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions league.

On September 1 2023, Hudson-Odoi signed for Premier League club Nottingham Forest on a three-year contract for a reported fee of £3 million with a potential £2 million in add-ons. Hudson-Odoi’s scored a total of eight goals in the 2023-24 season with the last one being against his former club Cheslea.

The 2024-25 season still holds a lot of hope for Hudson-Odoi with his only goal on September 14 in the away victory over Liverpool earned the club their first win at  Anfield since February 1969.

International Career

Hudson-Odoi is eligible to represent both England and Ghana at the international level. However, he has represented the England team at every age group from U-16 – 19. In March 2019, Hudson-Odoi became the youngest player to debut in a competitive match for England’s senior team. His versatility have made him an invaluable asset to Gareth Southgate’s squad, showcasing his potential on the international stage.
