Arda Guler’s Early Life
Guler is the wonderkid who got the whole world gaping with his stunning performance in the Turkish league in 2021-22 while playing for Fenerbahce.
His story began upon joining the Ankara-based club, Genclerbirligi in 2014 where his performance earned him the captain of the youth team amidst the older boys.
Arda was born to Umit Guler, his father and Serap Guler, his mother both of whom have been showing their endless support for their son and his career from an early age, as regular participants in his matches, standing on the sidelines and as reported, he doesn’t have an external agent which is why all his negotiations are done through his family, mainly his father, who also reportedly helped him perfect his left foot. With his impressing performance he had Major European clubs like Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Barcelona’s interest. With the start of the 2022-23 season Guler played his first match against Kasimpasa scoring two goals under 21 minures of play. He won a man of the match performance in the 2023 Turkish Cup final against Istanbul Basakehir.
Real Madrid announced his signing on July 6 2023 on a six years contract to last until june 2029 beating Barcelona to the race after paying an initial €20 million for his release clause.
International Career
Güler, who played for Turkey up to the U21s, is a Turkish young international. On November 19, 2022, he made his first senior international debut for Turkey, winning 2-1 against the Czech Republic. On June 19, 2023, he scored his first goal in the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Wales.
He was included in Turkey’s UEFA Euro 2024 26 man squad. Güler won Player of the Match on June 18, 2024, as he scored in Turkey’s 3-1 victory over Georgia in their opening match and he as soon became the first teenager to score on his European Championship debut since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2004.
His assist on 3 July’s quarterfinals against Austria made him become the third teenager in history to score and assist in the same Euros, following Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
