Early Life
Hutchinson was born in Redhill, England, and raised in South London alongside his older brother, O’Shaye, who has played for several non-league football clubs, including Burgess Hill Town, East Grinstead Town, and Ramsgate.
Omari Hutchinson Club Career
Hutchinson began his football journey with Chelsea in 2008. In a video shared on Chelsea’s official website in July 2023, Hutchinson’s father revealed that Chelsea had released him twice during his youth. In 2012, while playing football in Charlton Athletic’s car park as his brother O’Shaye trained with the youth team, he was scouted and signed by the club. His performances at Charlton caught the attention of Arsenal after impressing in a match against them.
After two years at Charlton, Hutchinson left the club and had trials with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Brentford, though none resulted in a contract. He then took a year off from academy football to play futsal with friends before eventually joining Arsenal at the under-12 level. Hutchinson also mentioned that he spent some time with Crystal Palace before moving to Arsenal.
Hutchinson signed his first professional deal with Arsenal in November 2020.
On 16 July 2022, Hutchinson rejoined Chelsea for an undisclosed fee. He made his professional debut on 5 January 2023, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 1–0 home defeat to Manchester City.
On 20 July 2023, Hutchinson joined newly-promoted Championship side Ipswich Town on a season-long loan. Although he struggled to secure a consistent spot in the starting lineup, he earned the EFL Championship Player of the Month award for February 2024, scoring three injury-time goals and providing two assists.
After playing a key role in helping Ipswich Town secure promotion to the Premier League after a 22-year absence, Hutchinson returned to the club on 30 June 2024, signing a five-year contract for a club-record fee.

Omari Hutchinson International Career
Born in England, Hutchinson is of Jamaican heritage. He has represented England at the youth level, playing for both the England U17 and U19 teams.
In May 2022, he received his first call-up to the Jamaica national team and made his unofficial debut later that month in a 6–0 loss to Catalonia. However, in November 2022, Chelsea requested that Hutchinson not join the Jamaican squad so he could be available for first-team duties.
Hutchinson made his official debut for Jamaica on 11 March 2023 in a 1–0 defeat to Trinidad and Tobago. By August 2024, he was called up to represent the England U21 team.
Omari Hutchinson played for Arsenal’s junior team before moving to Chelsea for an undisclosed fee. He does not have a buy-back clause from Arsenal.
