Early Life
Born in santo Domingo, Ecuador, Caicedo grew up in a modest family as the youngest of ten siblings, his parents are Juan Caicedo and Maria Carozo. His football journey began in his local hometown playing in the scrubland pitches of his hometown before joining the Independiente del Valle, where he rose to fame for his all-round midfield performances.

Club career
Caicedo began his playing career at the age of five after being invited to play at the Mujer Trabajadora soccer school by Guera where he played till the age of 12. He set out initially as a forward before eventually developing into a midfielder. At the age of thirteen, he joined local side COlorados Jaipadida, an affiliate of professional club ESPOLI. Caicedo turned out exceptional with his performances in Jaipadida and was subsequently invited to train with ESPOLI.
Caicedo’s path to challenges wasn’t one without challenges though, following ESPOLI’s relegation ties with Jaipadida was severed and he was left without a pathway to football. Caicedo was later on sent to trial with professional side Mushuc Runa by Jaipadida director, Darwin Castillo but the trial ended for him in a week’s time as he was unable to pay for food or board. He also had a trial with Barcelona which also proved unsuccessful.
In 2016, Caicedo was brought to the Ecuadorina Serie A side Independiente del Valle for trials by one of his brothers, this time he was successful. He wouldn’t get play time immediately as he suffered from injury earlier on resulting to surgery and 10 months recovery break.
Later in 2019, Caicedo captained the Independiente del Valle youth team to the Copa Mitad del-Mundo title, a youth tournament in Spain. Following his experience, he was invited to the Independieinte del Valle first team where he quickly established himself so much so that Miguel Ramirez first team manager at the time would have him flown back from an U-20 Copa Libertadores game in Paraguay to feature in a Serie A match against rivals.
On 1 February 2021, Caicedo joined the English side Brighton & Hove Albion on a four-and-a-half-year deal for a fee that was undisclosed. He made his debut on 24 August where he started in the EFL Cup second round away fixture at Cardiff City assisting Andi Zeqiri in his first Albion goal in the 2-0 win.
On 31 August Caicedo proceeded on a season-long loan to Beerschot of the Belgium top flight however due to shortages of central midfielders at Brighton, he was recalled from his loan. He made his premier league debut on April 9 assisting Enock Mwepu’s goal in the 2 – 1 win over Arsenal. His first goal for Brighton came on 7 May as he opened the scoreline in a 4 – 0 win over Manchester United.
Moises Caicedo scored his first goal in the 2022 – 23 season in Brighton’s sixth match of the season on 4 September in a 5 -2 win over Leicester City. With his growing fame, Caicedo was linked with top premier league clubs like arsenal. On January 30, it was reported that Brighton had rejected Arsenal’s second bid for Caicedo which was worth about £70m and Caicedo proceeded to sign a new long term contract with Brighton until 2027 with an option for another year. On June 27, it was reported that Brighton had rejected Chelsea’s bid for Caicedo at £80m and in the following month agreed to Liverpool’s £111m. However, on 12 August 2023, it was reported that Chelsea had agreed to a higher bid of £115m for the Brighton star. Thus on 14 August 2023, Caicedo joined Chelsea, signing an eight-year contract with an option for a one-year extension. Caicedo made his debut for Chelsea on August 20 coming on as a subsitutue in the 61st minute in a premier league math against West Ham. It took almost the whole season for Caicedo to warm the net for his team which finaly came on the final match day as he scored a shot from 50 yards out in the 2 – 1 win over Bournemouth.
Caicedo captained Chelsea for the first time on August 2024 in the 2024 Conference League play-off round against Servette. He scored his first goal for the 2024-25 season on November 3 2024 in a draw away match against Manchester United.

International Career
Caicedo debuted for Ecuador on 9 October 2020 in the 2022 FIFA world cup qualification loss to Argentina and has since become a key player for the national team. he scored his first goal in a 4–2 home victory against Uruguay. He was instrumental in Ecuador’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign, scoring against Senegal.
