Early Life
Nathan Tella, born on July 5, 1999, in Lambeth, England, is a professional footballer known for his dynamic play as a winger. He was raised in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, where he attended Edwinstree Middle School and Freman College in Buntingford before leaving following his GCSE Exams in 2015
Tella’s football journey began at the age of eight when he joined the Bedwell Rangers in Stevenage. In 2007, he moved to Arsenal’s youth academy, where he spent a decade honing his skills. After unsuccessful trials with Reading and Norwich City, he signed with Southampton FC in April 2017.
Club Career
Nathan an explosive midfielder, has made quite an impression both on the wing and in the central midfield, possessing an excellent balance and naturally quick.
Before being seen by an Arsenal scout while playing for Bedwell Rangers, the dribbling wonder started his career at St Nicolas Junior School in Stevenage. He then progressed to join Arsenal in 2017 being just 8 years old.
After failing to break into the first team at the Emirates in his 10th year, he had to leave arsenal and was on trials ar Reading, Norwich and Southampton before finally joining Southampton in April of 2017.
In July 2019 he extended his contract with the club for an extra year and by July 2020 he signed a new 3 year deal contract. His breakthrough came with him making his senior debut on June 19, 2020, coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 win over Norwich City. On February 11, 2021, he assisted Stuart Armstrong’s goal in a 2-0 FA Cup fifth round victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, marking his first goal contribution.
Tella started in his first Premier League game on February 23 against Leeds United, losing 3-0 and scored scored his first Premier league goal in a win against Fulham on May 15.
Tella and Southampton reached an agreement for a new three-and-a-half year contract renewal on January 6, 2022.
Tella proceeded on a season long loan to Burnley on August 11 2022 where he socred his first career hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Preston North end with his team wining the league for the tenth time in a row on February 11, 2023. By March, the following month he secured his second hat-trick in a 3 -1 victory over Hull City.
Tella signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen on August 27, 2023, for an alleged cost of £20 million. In a 5-1 victory over SV Darmstadt 98 on September 2, 2023, he made his club debut in the 72nd minute, taking Jeremie Frimpong’s place and come October 5, 2023, Tella netted his first goal for Bayer Leverkusen in a 1-2 win over Molde in the Europa League.

Born in London to Nigerian parents, Tella can represent both England and Nigeria. The winger had earlier stated that he would not turn down a call-up to the Nigerian national teams and has not ruled out playing for England in the future should they show an interest in his talents.
He was finally called up by the Nigerian head coach, Jose Peseiro for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Lesotho.
He, on his first training session with the national team, Tella was pleased with the friendly environment and the chance to play with elite footballers.
